8 Free Life-Coaching Resources

Erin Vazquez

If you're someone who has looked into hiring a life coach and been rendered speechless when you hear about the fees, you're not alone. Thankfully we live in an age where there is so much information at your fingertips so if you're ready to hold yourself accountable, you can enjoy the benefits of coaching until you're ready to make that all-in investment.

I was one of those people who knew I woud benefit greatly from the one-on-one interaction, but before I got there I spent hours with free resources that helped me make the shifts that I needed.

Here are my 8 favorite resources (with a bonus at the end)!

Podcasts are a genius way to "time deepen" meaning making the most of your time doing daily chores such as cooking, cleaning or exercising. Just pop in you ear buds or connect to your bluetooth speaker and enjoy those mindset shifts!

1. The James Altucher Show

This podcast frankly changed my life. The host, James Altucher, speaks with guests that run the gamut of professions, backgrounds, passions and talents. His unique way of thinking (he's come under fire for saying that college and home ownership are scams) is a direct cause of his ability to ask questions that reveal insights from the minds of people who have built lives of great satisfaction, fulfillment, wealth and joy. There's a lot of business people on the show, but creativity in itself is a business and as a part of my mission to crack down on the broke, depressed and addicted artist stereotype, I'm all about learning from those who understand the biz.

Suggested gateway episode: Byron Allen (who started writing for legendary comedians before he had a driver's license)

2. The Tim Ferriss Show

I love this podcast for the same reasons as James'. Their guests are often the same, but I always listen to both interviews because Tim is interested in different details than James (usually) and the insights just never stop. I credit these two with conducting hours of interviews that have shifted my mind so much that I have made major strides in my life since starting to listen to his and James' podcasts seven years ago.

Suggested gateway episode: Robert Rodriguez, The Wizard of Hollywood I revisit this episode about once a year, I feel like it's that important for gleaning creative thinking, practices and passion.

3. The Moment with Brian Koppelman

This one lives more in the creative realms as the host is the writer and producer of Showtime's Billions as well as movies like Rounders. He focuses around the moment in his guest's lives where they knew their life was going to be different, where they knew they were destined for the life of a creative. If you follow Brian on Twitter, you'll get regular chances to ask him questions about process and industry that he'll answer on his podcast. It's basically free coaching from a creative who's been there.

Suggested gateway episode: any one of his conversations with Seth Godin is so full of gold and inspiration, but here's the latest.

There's nothing quite like getting lost in a book. Here are some of the books that I've loved and have transformed the way I think. By the way, I know they're not free from Amazon, but mosey on over to your library where they're happy to provide you with free resources.

4. Awaken The Giant Within by Tony Robbins

A classic that never goes out of style, this is one of the books that brought the idea of emotional mastery to my attention years before I would be coached by the author in one of the most heart-opening and transformative experiences of my life. (By the way, I went to Tony's event because many of the guests on Tim and James' shows had also been.)

5. Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza

This is not a quick, easy read. But it is an essential read for anyone who is ready to get out of the grips of their past. Using actual science combined with powerful meditations, this book will show you how to transform your life using the power of your mind. This is not hyperbole. This is powerful and real.

6. Tribe of Mentors by Tim Ferriss

This is one my favorite books to gift. Tim has compiled years of wisdom from his podcast guests and put them in this bible of knowledge. You can open it up to any page on any day and gain a valuable insight or ah-ha just from one page of reading.

YouTube Channels

7. Marie TV with Marie Forleo

One of my biggest inspirations, this creative, kind and upbeat woman was made for the screen. Her engagement with guests and audiences is kind, warm and is always focused on creativity and digging toward how anyone who wants to offer their special something to the world can do that.

8. Sunny Lenarduzzi

This is for anyone who wants to build a YouTube channel and a millionaire mindset. I found this well-named ray of light last year and have found myself binging on her high-value videos for growing your YouTube and Instagram. Recently, she's shifted into sharing her mindset musts, expanding beyond the mechanics of making YouTube work for you.

Recommended video or playlist: For this channel, I think you should check it out and see which video is calling your name. Take it from there!

Everything I listed here has the power to shift your thoughts into possibility and new ideas. It might be all you need. But there's no substitute for the power of one-on-one coaching. Right now, I'm giving away one free premium coaching package. You can enter here and you can enter as many times as you'd like by sharing with your social networks. The winner will be announced 2/2/2020. Good luck!

With love,
